MSC Seashore crew raped colleague

An unfortunate incident happen onboard the MSC Seashore cruise vessel, where a 25-year-old Brazilian crew member has been taken into custody for allegedly committing rape against a colleague. 

The Women’s Defense Police Station got a report from the victim about the potential crime and registered complaint. The suspect was apprehended by the police at the Port of Maceió in Brazil on March 14th, as soon as vessel docked.

As per the police authority Ana Luiza Nogueira, the victim claimed that the co-worker had drugged her, making the crime even more severe, as it amounts to rape of a vulnerable person. The General Police Department of Alagoas was alerted a few days ago and waited for the ship’s arrival to send a police team to the location.

The victim has sought an urgent protective measure, which will be reviewed by the court. She is receiving support from the psychosocial team. Both the accused and the victim are from São Paulo and have been employed on the MSC Cruises ship.
